What is Biochar pyrolysis?

Biochar pyrolysis is a process that involves heating biomass material, such as wood, crop residues, or manure, in the absence of oxygen to produce biochar.

During biochar pyrolysis, the biomass material is heated to temperatures typically ranging from 300°C to 800°C in a controlled environment, such as a pyrolysis reactor or kiln.

Biochar pyrolysis is considered a sustainable process because it utilizes renewable biomass feedstocks and produces valuable biochar while also capturing and utilizing gases that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. It has applications in agriculture, forestry, and environmental remediation, contributing to sustainable land management practices and climate change mitigation efforts.
